  • Tenders are invited for Assessment of Available Mechanization Services and Possible Cost-Effective Ways to Integrate Agricultural Mechanization Services into Smallholder Barleybased Farming Systems of Arsi and West Arsi Zone of Oromia Region The specific objectives are to: Assess the household demand for different agricultural mechanization Identify available agricultural mechanization (both large, medium, and small) types Assess how existing agricultural mechanization service markets are structured and operated Assess challenges for smallholders to access mechanization services Understand the capacity of farmers organization to provide agricultural mechanization services Suggest possible cost-effective service models to access appropriate mechanization by the smallholder malt barley farmers The consultant is expected to undertake the following major tasks among others: Design the assessment tools/instruments to be employed and submit to SHA for comments Amend the tools based on comments from SHA Provide a general analysis of farm mechanization in Ethiopia, and Arsi and West Arsi zone in particular Determine key farm machinery value chain actors and sample size (number of households) that needs to be involved in the assessment process in consultation with SHA Gather secondary data/information through a desk review Gather primary data/information from various sources Conduct interviews and focus group discussions to generate information from all relevant farm machinery value chain actors Submit the draft assessment report to SHA Obtain comments and suggestions on the report, incorporate, and submit the final report and Present the findings to relevant stakeholders
