  • Tenders are invited for Consultancy Service on the Potential of Sustainable Timber Harvesting, Development of Guideline and Training for Project and Government Staff. Ethio Wetlands and Natural Resources Association (EWNRA) is a local NGO registered and accorded legal personality with registry number 0198 in line with the Civil Society Organizations Proclamation Number 1113/2019 to work in Ethiopia. Currently, EWNRA is implementing a project entitled “Enhancing Forest Governance and Local Livelihoods southwest Ethiopia (EFGL southwest Ethiopia)” is the one that started operation at the intersection of three regions (Gambela, Oromia and Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples (SNNP) regional states), specifically within three ecological zones namely Agnwa in Gambela, Iluababor in Oromia and Sheka in SNNP. Within these zones three adjoining woredas (districts) Gambela woreda in Agnwa, Nono Sele woreda in Iluababor and Masha woreda in Sheka are the project interventions The project is funded by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs through Forests of the World (FoW), Denmark. The overall objective of the project is to improve forest governance and local livelihoods in southwest Ethiopia through capacity building, effective forest product value chains and policy actions. In light of meeting the aforementioned project objective, EWNRA is looking for capable consulting firm that can independently review and evaluate the context of the two project intervention woredas called Nonosele in Iluababor Zone of Oromia Regional State and Masha in Sheka Zone of Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples Regional State (SNNPRS) of Ethiopia. The study should focus on conducting participatory research on the potential, feasibility and effectiveness of sustainable timber harvesting. Specifically it should focus on the identifications of pilot sites for continues data collocation on the potential, feasibility and effectiveness of sustainable timber harvesting with due considerations of socio-economic and ecological aspects. The findings of the participatory research will be used to learn lessons and practical measures and strengthen partnerships among the key government stakeholders and beneficiary communities through consultations in which they can analyze and, when necessary, modifying a legal framework to provide effective incentives for sustainable forest management. In regards to this task (task one) the Consultant should have the following competencies: Academic qualification · Relevant degrees in the areas of production forestry, agro- forestry, Community based forest mangment or other related subjects with close experiences and affinity to sustainable forest mangment, sustainable timber harvesting and the required silvicultural operations within the moist Afromontane natural forest Experience and skills: · Contemporary, up-to-date knowledge, understanding and practical experiences in sustainable timber harvesting and the required silvicultural operations in southwest Ethiopia, · Experience and skills on capacity building and training provision on sustainable timber harvesting and the required silvicultural operations to farmers and experts · Renewed Consultancy licence Interested consultancy firms or teams of experts can collect the Terms of Reference from EWNRA office till November 19, 2021 (Friday) and expected to submit their technical and financial proposals until November 22, 2021 (on Monday).
