- Tenders are invited for Consultancy Services for Internal Migration and its Impact on Sustainable Urban Development in Ethiopia. The study will focus on the internal migration of large, medium, and small towns in all regional states including regional capitals, city administrations, and towns. The tasks to be carried out by the Consultants are as follows: Examine the factors that influence individuals/households to migrate and their status, flow and map of the migrants; Examine the factors - that influence the push & pull factors of migrants; Discuss the economic, social and political situation of migrants in the place of origin and destination (pre, during and post-migration), Assess the nature, type scale, extent, pattern, trend, and direction of internal migration in the country and the contribution of migrants to urban population growth, & Assess how internal migration and other factors impact the urbanization process in Ethiopia, Explore how Urban Local Governments in Ethiopia are managing the current inflow of internal migrants, the system they have, and assess their capacity to manage proactively and how they are planning for the upcoming massive increased internal migration, Assess the policy/strategy gap at federal, regional and local government, National Capital Region, level, Examine the degree of internal migration as contributing factor to shortages in the provision of adequate housing and other basic infrastructure and services (education, employment, health, transportation, utilities, sanitation, safety and security, etc...), besides to labor market pressure, aggravating informal business and polluting urban environment, etc... Recommend policy/strategy options including immediate actions to be taken based on international experiences that can promote the contribution of internal migration to sustainable urban development in particular and urban prosperity at large
