- Expression of Interest are invited for Data-Driven Credit Scoring for Small Business Owners in Lesotho. Publication Date: 11-Aug-2022 Expression of Interest Deadline: 22-Aug-2022 The firm will work with the World Bank team on the design, implementation and evaluation of the MSME enterprise data-driven credit scoring pilot in Lesotho. Responsibilities will include: Localize existing enterprise data platform or design tailored solution for the Lesotho MSME market; Ensure functionality in low-tech environments (e.g. offline, off-grid); Work with World Bank and local stakeholders to select eligible entrepreneurs (female/male); Support the onboarding of participating entrepreneurs onto the platform; Service the enterprise data platform and provide technical assistance to participating entrepreneurs for the duration of the pilot; Use data generated during the pilot to generate and calibrate a credit score for the partner financial institution; Share credit score data with partner financial institution and train relevant staff on how to use the resulting score in lending decisions; Share data with the World Bank and collaborate on the impact evaluation. The bulk of the assignment is expected to take place between Q3 of 2022 and Q2 of 2024. Throughout the project period, the firm will be expected to coordinate with and provide regular reports to the World Bank project team. Selection Criteria Interested firms are invited to provide information demonstrating that they have the relevant skills and experience to perform these services. The shortlisting criteria include: (i) demonstrated experience developing and deploying MSME enterprise software that can be leveraged for credit scoring; (ii) experience piloting new credit assessment processes with partner financial institutions, including in the microfinance sector; (iii) experience working in emerging markets, preferably including African markets; and (iv) availability for travel to Lesotho to participate in client meetings and support onboarding.
