- Tenders are invited for Develop an Integrated Fire Management Plan (IFMP) for Bale Mountains National Park (BMNP) Scope: Assess the existing and historical determinants of the fire management regime of BMNP through a desktop analysis of relevant documents/remotely sensed information, key stakeholder consultations and field surveys, Summary of the impact of current fire regimes on the biodiversity and ecosystem management objectives within the various habitats of BMNP. Set out strategies for an IFMP for BMNP including the consideration of the role for prescribed burning and Community Based Fire Management. Explore how the fire prevention can be linked with community use, agreements for access to the park's natural resources Develop practical protocols, for planning and practical training for park staff and communities to carry out controlled (prescribed) management burning of the Erica habitats in the BMNP and its buffer zone. Tenders from teams that include both Ethiopian and international experts are desirable. The assessment of submitted tenders should be completed by 16th June 2021. Tenders will be expected to demonstrate the following: Track record in ecology and the impacts of fire as well as fire management planning and post-fire restoration. Experience relating to the challenges facing sustainable natural resource management and the conservation of protected areas Previous experience working with communities. Ability to work with communities in Afan Oromo is essential. Ability to respond to comments and questions in a timely, appropriate manner Ability to write high-quality, clear, concise reports in English.
