  • Tenders are invited for Development and/or Refinement of Forest and Non-Timber Forest Product (NTFP) Working Manuals, Mainly On: Forest Coffee, Honey, Spices and Others. ECFF is founded in 2005 and a registered national non-government organization that has been working closely with Communities, Research institutions, Universities, Private sector, Government, and Civil Societies Leaders to support ecosystem conservation and sustainable development in Ethiopia. ECFF strategically working to reduce environmental degradation and help society and government to build a future where people live in harmony with nature, conserve biodiversity and promote sustainable and equitable use of renewable natural resources to ensure coffee forest biodiversity management for the benefit of all. Through these approaches, ECFF is building a healthier and wealthier society that value, conserve and sustainably uses nature. ECFF focuses on issues such as coffee, climate change, forests and UNESCO biosphere reserves. ECFF has been working in the Yayu Coffee Forest Biosphere Reserve area for more than 16 years and has led the nomination process of the site as UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and implementing of many research and development projects. The Environment and Coffee Forest Forum (ECFF) together with, Care Ethiopia (Lead organization), Oromia Development Association (ODA), and Kulchi Youth Reproductive Health and Development Organization (KYRHDO) partnering on implementation of a joint project titled ‘Future: My Forest My Livelihood My Family- in three woredas of the Yayu Coffee Forest Biosphere Reserve in Ilu Abbabor and Buno-Bedele Zones of Oromia. The Yayu Coffee Forest Biosphere Reserve in south-western Ethiopia is located in the Ilu Abbabor and Bunno Bedele Zones of Oromia national regional state. It is one of the Eastern Afromontane Biodiversity Hotspot Conservation areas that are home to wild populations of Arabica coffee (Coffeaarabica L.). The eco-region was declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 2010. The project “Future: My Forest My Livelihood My Family- -will be implemented in three woredas of the biosphere reserve located in Yayo and Doreni Woredas of Ilu Ababor and Chora Woreda of Buno-Bedel Zones. The goal of the project is to strengthen families, forests management and livelihoods in Yayo coffee forest biosphere for sustainable futures through the provision of tools and platforms for long-term development. To realize its vision, building the capacity of staff, key stakeholders and Implementing Partners (IPs) is one of the strategies to ensuring dynamism, effectiveness, and efficiency in discharging ECFF-s responsibilities and implementing its strategic plan. The overall aims of developing/refining of working manual is to identify and review appropriate working manuals that implemented/used to empower and increase the capacity and knowledge and skill of stakeholders, mainly the community, and improve the living conditions of project beneficiary and beyond focusing on Women and Youth that support conservation and will help them make better decisions about the use of local natural resources and increase the revenues they receive from these products. The purpose of the consultancy is to develop/refine the potential working manuals that helps producers for growth and profitability and fill gaps of local communities to be bridged-down. The working manuals used to boost up the knowledge and skill of the beneficiaries to explore the mechanism of improving potential produces in project areas that generate better income for local communities by presenting a systematic approach that can be used by small scale producers. The refined materials also will support strategy development with practical action points. To this end, ECFF seeks to invite appropriate and potential consultant to develop and/or refine an appropriate working manuals or materials on coffee, honey and spices that facilitate the Future Project towards Sustainable Coffee, Honey and Spices development mainly focused on Women and Youth to increase quality and volume of coffee, honey, spices and other agricultural production that in turn contribute to biosphere reserve biodiversity landscape conservation. For this assignment, a consulting firm or a team of individuals who specialized in fields related to agricultural economics, coffee agronomy, Apiculture, plant Science, natural resource management, forestry, and sustainable rural livelihood development (mainly specialized in coffee forest, beekeeping and spices development and production) or related fields all with Master-s degree and above with more than 10 years direct proven experience in research and consultancy works in developing working/training manual with demonstrating best practices analysis on coffee, honey and spices are required. Interested consultancy firms or teams of specialists can collect the Terms of Reference and submit their technical and financial proposals within 10 days from the date of publication of this notice on newspaper.
