- Expression of Interest are invited for Market Research on Productive Use Appliances (Ac and Dc) in Ethiopia and Options for Designing a Performance-Based Grant The proposed assignment is funded by the World Banks Energy Sector Management Assistance Program (ESMAP), through the program Improving Livelihoods and Human Capital. It aims at developing and demonstrating approaches that systematically integrate demand and productive-use stimulation into large-scale electrification programs, thereby resulting in an increase in electricity demand and uptake of productive use at scale. Ethiopia is one of the four pilot countries of the program where opportunities for large-scale demand interventions have been identified. ESMAP is procuring a Consultant to (i) fill the relevant knowledge gaps identified in the existing initial productive use report regarding current and potential uses of income generating off grid and mini grid technology as well as market opportunities and barriers in Ethiopia; (ii) provide advisory support to the World Bank team on the design on acceleration of off-grid and mini grid appliance adoption; and (iii) make recommendations on areas of technical assistance so that market barriers might be overcome and growth in productive uses of energy can be accelerated.
