  • Tenders are invited for Transboundary Integrated Flood Management Plan and Assessment of the Unyama River Catchment at Elegu Border Post, South Sudan The specific objectives of this consultancy work are: Hazard assessment and mapping: map the flood extent, flood depths, and flow patterns leading to an improved understanding of the spatial distribution of the flood hazard in the Unyama Catchment. Exposure assessment and mapping: map population, infrastructure, ecosystems, and other socio-economic activities exposed to pluvial and fluvial floods in the river basin Vulnerability assessment and mapping: assess vulnerability to floods across the catchment Risk assessment and mapping: combine evidence on hazard, exposure, and vulnerability to develop a flood risk assessment and map of the catchment, including estimates of likelihoods and magnitude of impacts for floods of different return periods An assessment of (i) existing institutional structures for flood management in the catchment and (ii) any existing structural or non-structural measures to mitigate flood hazards, their performance under past flood events, and their location in the catchment, etc Develop an integrated transboundary flood management plan with strategies for joint flood monitoring, joint flood risk management including identified suitable structural and non-structural interventions for flood management in the Unyama catchment and for the Elegu border post. Promote community participation in transboundary flood management and planning through awareness creation to empower communities to manage climate risks in select areas in the Unyama River Catchment.
